Возможно, не все еще видели, но Сеть пообщался с WW про термины Князь и Принц. Теперь есть официальное мнение от беловолков. Вот переписка:
Good day to you.
My name’s Alexander, and I represent a part of Russian WoD community. I play and “storytell” games within the setting since 1999.
For 2 years already we have a translating discussion about the VtM term “Prince”. In Russian there are 2 completely different words for that term and community got divided into 2 groups with different views on whichever translation is more correct.
If it’s possible we would be very grateful for your help in solving the dispute.
So, the two meanings:
1) Royal-blood, heir to the king, a powerful figure with little rights and possibilities until the king’s death. However, this term is a much more straightforward and correct translation for the word “Prince”. In Russian the word is spelled like “Printz”.
2) Chief to a feudal territory. Pretty much a king himself not to a country, but to the castle and adjacent territories. In rare cases can gain lots of castles and control of a big territory through the war. In Russian the word is spelled like “Knyaz”.
In both cases Prince is a figure of great importance though there’s no one above Knyaz and there’s always a king/queen above Printz.
